Welcome Wanderers & Ponderers

Hey, all. Heather introduced me a few weeks back and asked me to introduce myself. You’ll get to know me over time. More importantly, I want to get to know you.

I’ll be posting on social media, writing articles on our blog, Wanderers and Ponderers, and putting together a newsletter still in the planning stages. There is always going to be room for your feedback either in a comment section or if that falls short, email what you’re thinking. My email address is jgwanderlusttravel@gmail.com.

Since coming on board, I’ve been working on our website. There are two guiding principles that we intend to abide by. First, Only Your Imagination Limits Your Destination. Second, To Where Shall We Wander? That’s why we like our blog title, Wanderers and Ponderers. We think you’ll like it too.

Chances are you got here from a Facebook post. Thanks for clicking by the way. We’ve been putting a lot of effort into the Special Events & Expeditions section of the website. Check it out before you leave. We want it to inspire your wanderlust. This year’s expedition was to Egypt. We’ve been gathering pictures and anecdotes from our fellow vagabonds and plans are to have an Egypt page to share by the end of the month.

As I was setting up the blog page, I got to pondering what makes anything special. There’s a tree not far from here that I have sat under for hours at a time. I consider it special. No one else does that I know of anyway. Long story short—each of us decides what is special. We will share our special places and events and what makes them special, if you’ll share yours. We really do want to know.

Both the 2025 and ‘26 expeditions have been announced. Next year we are headed to South America and the Pre-Columbian Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Details are developing and we want your input to make it as special and memorable as the Egypt expedition. So, leave your comments. Honest, we read them.

Though it may seem early to be talking about our 2026 journey. It isn’t. Accommodations and specialty tours are already selling out. We want you to join us in Mallorca, Spain for Expedition: Solar Eclipse ’26. If you missed the Great American Eclipse of 2024, you could wait for the next one. It’s scheduled to take effect in 2033, and the path of totality will primarily be over the Arctic Ocean. The only land mass within the path is a small swath through northern Alaska. Nome, Alaska will have 2 minutes 30 seconds of totality at 9:47am. That’s March 30,2033. Average high temperatures then are around 22 degrees, lows 8. Hmm, Alaska in nine years, Mallorca in two?
